Summer sentiments so far...

My girls! We started out the summer getting wet and playing outside, and we just keep doing it. I am so glad Jane is learning early what having fun is all about! Ashlyn is a champion about playing, making up games and getting everyone involved. She has organized several "slip and slide parties" complete with kool aid and snacks! I love every minute (except of course once they get grass and water all over a clean floor)!
Hey! Alex doesn't seem too happy to see me with the camera, but really he had a great time playing on the slip and slide along with the girls. It still doesn't beat his new love... Karate...

Alex's most recent belt promotion! He was in karate for six months (we took him out for the summer). I loved the respect he came home with and he loved the new moves he had for playing super heroes. His favorite is still the double split kick! The certificate proves it! He earned his white belt with a purple stripe! He was very happy about it and we are quite proud. He got to go out for ice cream afterwards too!
Back to the water, Jane is already shaping up to be a first-rate water girl. Our first boating experience this summer was on Utah Lake in March! We were just excited to get the boat on the water. We had no equipment besides the boat, but we were happy to be there. The water was too cold to do anything in anyway. There was still lots of snow in the mountains!
Embracing it with both arms! This is how Ashlyn goes about doing things! Since she was very little she has loved the water. I sometimes tease her she is like a fish, because I have such a hard time getting her out of the water! She must get it from her aunt Brittany (my sister) she was just like Ashlyn when it came to playing in the water.
We have done lots of water activities and as long as Alex keeps water out of his eyes we all love them more than karate! I have finally come to realize my kids are old enough to have fun like Ben and I do. It's like having these friends around all the time that want to do the same things we do! I love this summer and know there is more fun to come...
